This past fall I noticed the carpet wet in the truck. So I started looking for areas for water to get in side and found both cowls leak, rear window and condensation from the a/c heat exchanger. So I pulled carpet and all the sound blanket and found a good bit of surface rust. Every one might want to check on this. I felt that my truck was in great shape and I should not worry. (Besides, nothing has ever been hauled in the bed.) I sanded, primered and put a can of bed coating on both floor pans. Turned out good, bought the Dupli-color brand and one can did both pans. Happened to me, I had to cut out the floor plan and weld a new one in. Pain that it was, it was worth it

yeah my entire driver side floor pan is completely cancerous, from the pedals to the seat. The other side is started to get some rust. Both of the spots include rust that extends into the rocker panels; more so on the drivers side.
Where is the best place to get replacement parts?

When I bought my truck new in 91, I knew carpeting and farm mud
don't get along. I pulled the carpet and stored it away, then I had the whole cab floor covered in spray on bedliner. easy to clean and no rust issues.

This Mopar has rusty floors too. In fact it's pretty rough.

Carpet has no place in a truck. They should all have rubber floor mats.

That's nothing, I had a '75 W-100 that the rusty floors were held together by the wet cardboard I never cleaned off the floor. Worked OK for me. My brother however borrowed the truck for a while and his gilfriend complained about the mess . He cleaned out the truck and took her for a ride. That went OK untill he hit a large puddle and the spray inside thew cab was unimaginable... So was the look on the girlfriends face

Good job on the floor repair! I hate to see what's under the carpet on my 93 My 70 Bronco was rusted pretty bad under the front carpet, and it was even an AZ rig

I have wet carpet too, and i've started to worry about the potential for rust. the truck came from the dry side of the mountains so it hasn't been wet for all of it's life anyway.

But where did you find the water leaking in from? How did you fix the leak?

I like the bedliner idea the best..My 77 M880 had plain steel floor with rubber mats, very nice. Will it get much noisier if I skip the carpet altogether?

Well, I have not fixed the leaks yet, just the rusting part. I really do not know how to fix the leaking part without pulling the fenders.

Where is the leak? Did you leave the carpet out? I used to think the leak was around my door seals, but they just don't look that bad.

Most of the water comes down the drivers side 'kick' panel close to where the park brake is. I figure it is the cowls that have cracked.

I had my floor sprayed with polyurethane when I bought it new,
16 years of farm mud with no problems. Just hose it out once in a while.
