yep, you'll need the spacer, the line (or make one)

and cut some insulation away from the block down there near the pump.

all info is in the sticky under performance

There look to be two lift pumps, one superior to the other in flow. when ordering, how do I know which one to get? And that spacer and new fuel line? is that a cummins product? I m trying to figure out what to do here, I want a spare in the truck for the drive, Ill be turning my pump down for a good towing tune, so a stocker might be good for fuel pressure or just do the upgrade now.

the 2nd gen lift pump requires some kind of regulator because the output is more then a "1st gen low psi piston pump"...which is still wayy better then a stock diaghram pump.

So the Low PSI lift pump is bolt on for our trucks, make a line going to the IP and buy that spacer you'll need and go,

the 2nd gen lift pump will supply more fuel due to a different spring and a bigger piston BUT you have to run a regulator or you'll hurt the VE

mmm, thanks for the info dude. I still don't what im going to do, I might go the easy route, buy a stocker and turn my fuel down. Another question you probably know thats off topic, If i back the fuel screw all the way out, is that stock?

the stocker costs 3$ more where i got mine, id say go with the low psi piston pump for the same money and make you own line like i did, the pump and spacer would be like 165$ and you will never worry about it again, and you will have enough fuel for 350 or so hp. in my opinon, the piston pump is awsome and it helps at high rpm with the gov spring. you will definetly like it. seems like the ve loves fuel presure

The 2nd gen lift pump puts out 50psi fuel pressure - too much for a VE IP. The one used on 1st Gens has a lighter spring that keeps pressure down to around 15psi. You can either get a regulator or use the lower psi pump. I believe they make a rebuild kit that has the lower psi spring - that would be another option. This lift pump works great if you are running or want to run higher HP numbers - works great on a stock truck also.

There is a Cummins lift pump that is used for the 4 banger cummins that will fit on the 6 and due to the extra 2 cylinders the pressure drops
I priced it out from case IH (This was for a tractor motor) 170$ Canadian for pump not counting spacers and new line
Looking for part numbers cant find in my mess
