Retiring the old dodge

yea, a lot has happen the past two weeks. Had my son, spent half that time at Cooks Hospital. he had a fever that they couldn't find what caused it. all better now. The miss's grandparents bought an new Lincoln truck and is gonna sell me their old Chevy. Its no Cummins but it does have a back seat, an Im sick of riding in the wife's new Toyota. plus this way i can keep the dodge, but it needs work, the biggest thing is it needs all new wiring. the frame is cracked at the steering box. I have the time to fix everything now that my new job has no overtime, but that means about 1/2 of what i made last year. my brother in law was talking about droping the cummins in something else but eveything i want would be better if i had a 4bt. The the old 1st gen future is up in the air for right now.

jckdann7 sleep on it before you bury it. The cracked frame shouldn't be very difficult to repair. Amen to not wanting to ride in a car, wifes is a grand am and i'm 6'1 and have to fold up to get in and out. Plus I feel like my bottom is about an inch off the ground. The re-wire should be about a 4 or 5 on the difficulty scale, the time it takes can be a little annoying but not too bad. I see your oilfield trash so you can do it, fixing the ole heap beats swingin tongs n trippin a wet string of pipe anyday. Congrats on the new young-un hope he's ok. Good luck on your decision to fix the ole heap.

I've seen pics of a 6bt stuffed into a Scout II. Better be the long wheelbase Terra or Traveler. If you sell your truck you'll miss it for sure! Glad to hear your son is alright. I know that whenever I have the time to do stuff I'm always lacking the funds, or I barely have the money and no time!

Oh, how tempted I was to transplant the ol' 91.5 and its Getrag into Pappy's ol' 74 F350SC...but no time, no cash and nothin' but a crapload of commie busybody neighbors that don' like redneck engine swappin' in the driveway!

Suburbs in liberally-oriented states SUCK!!!!!!!!!

What kind of Chevy truck are they giving you? Why not put the Cummins in the Chevy?

I agree! Dream truck is actually a mid-80's Chevy/GMC crew cab with a 12V p-pumped Cummins. If I can swing a deal on one...........I can die a happy man.

You mean like a 85 chev body on a 94 dodge frame Keeps the ride nice, with a strong frame and all the good looks of the chev.

Starting it next week!

Thanks guys, I think i might keep it for a while atleast. I really like https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/...n-t234984.html this one. The chevy is an 02 5.3. There is an nice 80's chevy flatbed with stacks that would be sweet with the cummins but I did see an old 50's powerwagon???
