Results of my A518 shift cable and TPS tweaks
My shift cable is pulled forward towards the front of the truck as far as it is able, which is about 5/8" from the spec'd setting, the TPS is turned counterclockwise a strong 3/8" (radius length) from the spec'd setting, and my results are: Shift points for 1-2 and 2-3 are normal, but slightly firmer. 3-4 will not shift till 55 mph, at around 1900 rpm. The kickdown is not touchy, but on purpose, meaning that If I purposely slam down(once I am already at 4th gear, or OD)on level road at 2200 rpm, it will kick down, and with a slight raise of the right toes, it shifts back into 4th. Up hill, kickdown doesn't take much effort to achieve. Kinda like it, but is it proper? I don't want to send my A518 to tranny heaven any time soon, if you know what I mean. I like the idea that freeway on ramps are no longer a losing battle, but a win every time. Please advise.

How is the shift cable being full forward 5/8" from spec? Arent you supposed to have like a .1" gap between rear end of the cable opening and the little rod/ linkage? I tightened up the TV cable on Mom's after ol Redneck Hillbilly "rebuilt" her auto, (I'm going to do it next time) and shifting improved dramatically.
I set the TPS with a voltmeter- Mom's is around .6-.65 volts @ "idle", key on, engine off. This keeps hers from wrapping out the 3-4 shift too high, and keeps it from downshifting at 60 when she pulls out to pass.
