replace oring with the pump installed dgk-121

I need to replace the big oring in the pump, the one between the pump head and body.

So, how do I go about this? I do not want to pull the pump. From what I've read, I just need to separate it enough to get to this oring. What happens if I open it up too far?

Any help? Any handy threads to link too?

Well, to install the dgk-121 kit it's going to be less than 1100 bux. That's pulling the pump doing the little rebuild and then they claim to have to recalibrate it, and then install it on the truck.

I've done it a couple of times on a VW TDI, it may work out the same on our VE. Here is the link............

Alright, I'm headed out to gather up some of those tools that I don't have and then the work begins.

Thanks for the link. Any other input would be greatly appreciated!

I almost did it! I was down to the last two 6mm torx screws that hold the head to the body. And they had already been stripped from a previous attempt, my mechanic. He just never told me that they were stripped. He just said he couldn't fix it without pulling the pump.
