Removing the VE44

What tools does it take, anything "special" and how long should this job take?

I assume you mean the injection pump? Other than a steering wheel puller to pop the gear off, nothing special is needed. An "S" or "U" shaped 13 mm wrench is helpful on the bottom mounting nut.

I think the lack of answers might be from a little confusion. Our trucks have a VE fuel injection pump. The NEW trucks have a VP44 injection pump.

Make sure you have engine at TDC and keyway on pump shaft straight down and use the U shaped washer to lock the pump, that way it will still be in time when you put it back.
