Removing the auto tranny
I plan on pulling my transmission on thursday in order to replace my rear main, send the TC off to Hughes, and get the whole tranny overhauled. Any tips or suggestions that may help me with this process?
I have pulled a few Chevy gasser trannies before, and the one in my jeep, so I know about the TV cable and such.
Is it easier to pull the tranny and tcase as one unit, or pull each seperately?
Thank for your help!

I pull them as one unit then separate them later out from under the truck. Becareful though and make sure that trans is securely strapped to the trans jack. That big heavy np205 will try to drag the trans off one side of the jack.

Be careful with that t-case like he said, that sucker is heavy. I did them seperately, because I was by myself, with limited equipment. If you do them together, have a buddy over there to help.

you know Mopar would have made doing this easier if the trans/tcase cross member wasn't bolted in such a was that you have to pull the cab to get to the bolt out from the top of the frame, but i guess in this case since you are doing more than just sliding the trans back to change a flex plate it should be a bother.
You need to get a new 2nd gen flexplate from cummins

Thanks for the info.
I already have the flexplate from Cummins ordered, about $130 shipped to my door.
I can't wait to get this done, the biggest delay will be getting the converter done since I have to ship it half way across the country to Hughes.
The tranny should be pretty **** beefy when its done. The guy that is doing for me is rebuilding all with 48RH internals, 5 or 6 pinion (which ever it is) planetary, the newer style cut gears and everything. He said it should hold 500hp when its done.
