Recipe for 350 whp DD with good mpg......

As it sits right now thats my goal. My plans to get there are:

1. 12cm wg/HTT Stage IV
2. Electric fans
3. Pump mods, advanced to block
4. 4" TB/5" stack
5. K&N custom intake
6. Injectors (need help with choice, NO POD's. I want alot of power but stock like mpg)
7. 2nd gen IC
8. CoolerTubes

Should this be enuff to get me there? I find it pointless to have power you can only use a few seconds till the EGT is too high. I want power I can use at any time in any gear with safe EGT's. I will have N2O also, but that will only be for when I seriously want to win. lol

The 12 is to small. The turbo is too small if you want safe egts. A 12/IV will have you flirting with 1700 degrees at 350hp. 18.5/IV will be cooler at peak HP (350) but will spool slower. I still think it's the proper housing for the driving you do. JMO.

2. Electric fans
They'll only buy you about 5-10 hp on average. Sure, it'll pull 40 hp, but only when it's fully locked up and even with 10k in tow on a summer day (80* ambient, 75% humidity) I only heard mine kick in once. I understand you're in a warmer climate, so perhaps it's worth it.

Custom EDM's. Call Schieds and given them your honest goals and hardware setup. Be prepared to spend some $$$.

7. 2nd gen IC
8. CoolerTubes
Both good ideas, from what I've read

You're going to need some supporting mods to your fuel system, weather it be a piston lift pump or an afermarket electric setup with bypass regulator. 350hp worth of fuel will starve the stock transfer system and rob HP on a good day. On a bad day, your IP will self-destruct.

Making 350 RWHP and having reasonable EGT's is all but impossible with a standard hybrid turbo. The combination of the anemic 12v head and the VE's lack of ability to throw absurd amounts of fuel while keeping timing up to snuff only adds to the problem.

fuel system is an easy upgrade. I've got a nearly endless supply of steel braided line and fittings. Just got to buy a high volume low psi pump like a carbed track car would have.

What PSI does a VE need fed into it? Is it a constand feed pressure or rpm controlled as far as pressure rise?

How about a 16cm housing? I want good spoolup for daily driving because 1/3 of my 130 mile a day commute to work is stop and go. With the lagmaster 21 it doesnt do much in the go department without rolling black smoke.

Thatd be good. Im probably pushing onto 300 right now, should hit 350 with a little work after Im intercooled. I get 24 avg, best of 28 so far, including some city. Going for 30mpg after intercooled. My mods include pods, hx35, bhaf, 4" exhaust, 3 turns on fuel, no timing yet, soon 3200 and 7.3 intercooler. running the 14cm right now and really love it...good at the top end with excellent spool. however, I ran the 16 with the h1c before i upgraded and loved it too. 16 would be ideal for auto IMO.

With a 14cm W/G hot side - boost controller closed the most I see is 1400 on the dyno at 394 RWHP and 38 psi boost and that is only for about 10 seconds. I've never seen over 1100 running Cabage Hill just outside of Pendelton OR. That's passing everyting in sight at about 70 MPH. On my last trip in August 2007 I could not get the egts up enough to let my W/M stage 3 controller come on. The 14 winds up quite nicely especially with a 3k gsk installed.

I want good driving manners with the 5 speed. I'm surprised you get that kinda mileage with POD's. I have gotten a solid 27mpg recently, that was before e-fans. I want to get 30mpg also. Driving nearly 1,000 miles a week mpg is top, 350whp is close second.

I could live with that. Good enough to pass a powerjoke or stock Dmax when needed.

Bob, you've done some heavy porting work to that motor IIRC?

A new ported head and studs are in the future but my ATS exhaust is fully ported and runs into a 4" exhaust system.
