rebuild time!
Got my "new" motor for the conversion and it had gotten a drink of water down it and blew the head gasket, so I pulled the head and found some water staining and then some pitting. So I started pricing $600 rering kits,$600 piston sets and $350--$450 gasket sets, After I was able to think straight I found a complete! rebuild kit minus the valve train. Just passing that on and does any one have any thoughts.

Maybe I'm way off but....If it has been water locked I would check to be sure the connecting rods aren't bent.....or is that included in the piston sets?
Just tossing the idea out....

The B models respond well to the aftermarket cams, especially the 12V's. I know there are a lot of cams with different names on them, not sure how many actual mfg's there are. I put a Haisley machine cam in a buddies truck, were both pretty happy, it was well worth the money.
Make sure the pistons that come with the kit are good quality. Many of the aftermarket pistons do not have the correct alloy and are either too soft, or do not have enough temperature resistance to stand up to a turned up truck.

Also, make sure the cam is for a 1stGen. I have been told by more than one that just any 12v cam wont work as well in our application. Not sure why, but that's what the R&D guys have told me.

Helix series camshafts made (new) by F1 Diesel, however, you'll have to go through a vendor to get one.
Here's just one vendor of Helix camshafts: http://www.performancedieselwarehouse.com/index.html
You'll probably want a Helix 2; if I were doing it, I'd also throw in 60lb. valve springs.
