It goes on DRY You may need to get the one with the wear sleeve- just be aware it does NOT come with an alignment tool which is more than just the little plastic ring and it gous for about $180. I know I have the copy of the pages that wannadiesel sent me over a year ago. And no I still haven't done it yet.
Good Luck,
Michael

Like Michael said, as long as you put it in dry (soapy water is OK, oil is not) you did it right. If it's leaking, you either have groove worn in the crank or you put it in crooked. The one with the wear sleeve is pressed in as a unit (seal and wear sleeve at the same time) and requires a special install tool.
