rear leafs question

I bought a HD leaf ply for each side, and am lookin to add more. Since then the price has went crazy. Has anyone added rear leafs from any other verhicles to thier dodge pack? I have a few sets of old Ford and Chebby leaf packs that i could break down, but no dodge ones. Just not sure if the arches, etc are the same.

I bagged mine. Cheaper than buying leafs. Was around $300CDN for the kit. I installed it myself. Fairly straightforward and simple. Took the overloads out completly.

I am thinking of adding bags to my rear springs. They are the roughing riding of any truck I have ever owned. Did they improve your ride in addition to improving your heavy load handling?

Yes the ride did improve. Adding leafs to a pack just makes the pack stiffer and rougher. Air bags let you tailor the load carrying abiltiy to only what you need. My truck's main leaf pack was a bit weak and so when empty used to bounce off of the overload pack, more like rebound off. So removing the overloads is what improved my ride when the truck was empty. Adding the airbags lets me still haul my camper.

When empty the air bags only have about 5psi in them and have almost no effect on ride. With the camper I jack it to 15psi(just enough to make the truck sit level) to help carry the load. Rides awesome like this. I take it 20-25psi with the camper and car trailer on. The bags are rated for upto 100psi I believe.

Heavy load handling is about the same, I just jack the pressure to make the truck sit level. With the camper on it sways just like it did with the overloads no difference there. Probably need a sway bar for that.

Hope this helps you.

Springs should werk if they are same width, but consider the ride. They dont have the smoothest to start with, talk bout kidney busters.
