really hard starter-tons o smoke
well guys i think this is a common problem from what i heard, but my problem is it starts pretty hard when it is 80degrees out. It sounds like a train starting, puffin a ton of white smoke till the temp guage reaches the first bar on the arc. after that, it can be off all day and start fine. now that it gettin colder and snow on the ground it turns over with no smoke, starts puffin a little, then if i get on the gas a tad, it starts it's normal routine. Is this a partial timing problem? i appriciate any help as this is my welding truck. need to solve it.

Well, I think your spark plugs are bad and the coil may need to be replaced due to cracked paint.
But seriously, it sounds like a grid heater issue. Or possibly air in the fuel lines. Try pluggin it in.
But you have a 2nd gen, maybe you would have better luck in the 2nd gen area...

It shouldn't start hard ever if it's 80F outside. And the grids shouldn't cycle either. At least mine don't and my truck starts easy even without the grids down at about freezing temps. Maybe it's something else?

Look into troubleshooting the KSB in the sticky. that usually will cause white smoke on a semi warm day if it doesn't advance timing. on a cold day plugged in or with the grids coming on it won't be as smoky as just the right temp where it is cool enough to smoke but not so cool that grids come into play.
