Raced, Dynoed, and Pulled this weekend
Well I did it all this weekend. They had "Weekend on the Edge" down in Ogden, Utah put on by Edge products. Friday night they had drag racing and so i decided to try it for the first time. It was ET Bracket Racing and I didn't get there early enough to get enough practice runs in to know what my truck ran. I raced one practice run and ran a 15.955 1/4 mile cuz I didn't powerbrake enough off the line and didn't get my turbo spooled til a ways down the track. Then it began so i guessed I would run a 15.3 1/4 mile cuz i knew I could run better and I ran a 14.451 and so I broke out. I coulda got back in for another $20 but decided to call er a night and worry about the rest of the stuff the next day.
I dynoed saturday morning on Edges dyno and put down 375hp and 769 ft lbs corrected. I had Crewcabxlt's 5x?? injectors in at this time. I was gonna put my pods in right after and dyno again to see any difference but I didn't have enough time since I was pulling not too much longer after I dynoed. They didn't let me dyno the truck but I was in the cab. I was pretty impressed myself especially for having all stock/ original internals and a bone stock a518 trans. Just fuel, air, and timing, then studs and springs to keep things safe. I think I can taste 400 hp with a lockup trans There was 2 other VE trucks there and they couldn't even touch 300hp, one ran 255, and the other was about 280hp. I had a few guys ask if I was p pumped haha.
Then Saturday night I pulled in the 3.0 class and pulled 225'. I wasn't too far behind most of the other trucks but I placed 11th out of 12 trucks this time. There was a lot of good runnin trucks there since it was a full NADM event. I coulda pulled Super Street too right after but figured I couldn't compete and I was pretty tired and didn't wanna pay another hook fee.
I got an in cab video on my phone, kinda neat I thought but it still doesn't quite give you the adrenaline rush it does in real life haha
I'll get a video of from the outside later when my buddy posts it.
All in all I had really fun weekend, and the best part was my truck was still in one piece to drive it 2 hours all the way back home

Nice! Btw, I love the pic on Facebook with the red 6.7L Ford racing you!
Tip for ET racing, if the guy next to you is falling behind quickly, start letting up and barely win. If all goes well, both of you should reach the end at the same time. But do to different things, you may still break out.
FWIW, I raced ET for the 1st time last October. The guy I lost to ran a 15.13 on a 15.12 dial. I ran a 16.12 on a 16.10 dial. It was that close.

Im not sure what the uncorrected numbers were, not even sure exactly what the load even was since I wasn't driving. He just dynoed in 3rd or direct and went to 3500 rpm each run. All I know is the other 2 ve trucks there couldn't even touch 300 hp and they had some decent mods done.
I talked to terry and he said he thought they were like a ddp4, so a 5x13 or 5x14 since they were custom made quite a while ago.
I've been very happy with this 5000 Turbo. It spools very well for how big it is especially with no afc. I think the 4200 spring really helps getting things going cuz after 1200 rpm it takes right off.
Im new to the whole drag racing thing and was kinda mad I only got 2 runs. I think I still like pulling more but maybe that's cuz im just used to it and didn't do so well racing ha ha

correction factor on occasion is pretty deceiving. Like, the dyno I ran my 91 on locally only had like a 1.2%CF on it. I dynoed at 251hp corrected and like 248.5 or something uncorrected. Not all dyno operators aim to make their clients feel good. Some want their clients to know what their vehicle is actually puttin down.

Everyone has been tellin me that edges dyno is hard to make numbers on and some guys were disappointed with their numbers that day and said they were low so I don't know. It definately feels like it has 350+ hp when you lay the hammer down. I zip tied my tv cable up a lot tighter than I usually have it and had it shifting very firm at 2500 to 2700 rpm fir racing. I left it like that for the dyno and pulls, and it really seems to pull harder with that higher pressure in the trans.

Heres a few pics of the event
I have been extremely pleased with this turbo, it spools very very well like you can see for its size. As soon as it hits about 15 lbs of boost it just lights right up and goes, then you best be hangin onI'm kind of excited to put the 3000 on top of it, but probably won't get to it til this winter. It should be a very quick spooling setup.
