It is still available here from suppliers for around $1000.00 for a 30# cylinder, that is $33.3333 per pound.
Single 12oz cans are around 450 pesos, about 35 bucks. I have a very old slow leak in my system and I take it to the same shop in Hermosillo every couple of years and the last time cost 700 pesos for less than 12 oz, installed. I noticed that they were using dow r12 and asked about the propane replacements like frigic and they told me that they had been banned in Mexico. They also told me that there was a shortage of r12, all that was last summer. I am going back in a couple of days and I'll check and report back..,.Mark

Also, R12 is contraband at the border, which might add to the cost ..Mark

Wow $300.00 is a great price, do you know if it virgin or reclaimed?
I have also used Icor HotShot and the price has really jumped on that also.
Without a gas analyzer I am afraid to buy partial cylinders with the scam of people refilling it with 22 or cheaper gasses.

The 30lb can I bought was "sealed" DuPont, fresh, nos.I think that in the future I will switch over to "the blue can" R-4148.Did you do a flush and re-fill or just add the 4148?Does it perform as well as the R-12?
