Quiet time
Here's a few pictures from my project to reduce heat and noise in the cab.
I taped foil back insulation to the back of the cab, below the window ;
Then some carpet from the local auto parts store ;
More insulation on the floor;
Put the tool tray back in;
And the trim below the window;
I also recovered the headliner, added insulation to the roof and doors and put in new seats. I'll upload the pictures of those when I get time to resize them.
Now, I'm off to cut up my fenders to add vents.

Are you going to use the pocket knife behind the tray to cut the fenders for the vents.

What kind of speakers do you have in the back of the cab?

They're cheap $20 Roadmaster speakers from Kragen. 4"x6" 3-ways. I had to cut out the grilles in the brackets for them to fit, but they sound pretty good. Same speakers in the doors. (They were out of 6x9 when I picked them up - I may replace the door speakers at some point).

Okay. Finally got around to resizing the rest of the pictures...
Here's the headliner ;
And the new seats ;
It's much more comfortable than the old bench seat. The springs actually have some spring to them.

I taped a piece of the foil backed insulation to the inside roof. It took a little pushing and pulling to get the headliner trim screws in, but not a lot of extra effort. I also taped some of it up behind the door panel in place of the missing plastic sheets. It sealed up well.
All in all, it's noticeably quieter. It's hard to quantify it, but it definitely an improvement. All the rattles and such are gone, but now wind noise is more noticeable. I'll have to replace the wing vent seals to take care of that. I'm also noticing some squeaks and rattles from the dash, but I don't have everything screwed down there yet.

Last weekend I taped up the area where I want to put the vents, marked where to cut then got sidetracked on something else. I'm having a little difficulty cutting into my fenders after I just painted the truck!
Here's a pic of what I'm planning ;
with another one right in front of it (maybe).
