Question about smoke screw

Decided to have a look at this and saw that it seems to have maybe only a thread or so showing as it sits stock. Is this normal? What does yours look like?

Truck doesn't smoke hardly at all now anyway, so I gave it one turn just to see what would happen. It's about flush with the locknut now.

That's pretty normal. With the pump turned up you can back the smoke screw off some and not lose response. With big injectors you should set it flush with the inside of the AFC cover.
