Question About Dodge Sprinter?
Does any one on here have experience with the Dodge Sprinter. I am curious if the dually rear end would fit under our trucks. When I see one on the road it looks very narrow. What I am thinking is if it is narrower than a stock 1st gen dually you could possibly install one under a 1st gen with very little tire protrusion outside of the stock bed. A wide set of 4x4 fender flares would cover the tires in this case. Just brain storming!!

I have seen a dually set up on a pick up which looked like the rear end may have been narrowed like on a drag car. The tires were just inside the bed of the truck. The reason for my question is I have a dually rear end I want to put under my rig but I will have to hang external fenders on the bed (short bed) to cover tires or go to a flat bed. I really don't want to do either hence the question about the Sprinter. Next time you see a dually Sprinter make note of how narrow the body is.The tires are inside the body. I don't know if it will work but it's always worth a try. It would also update your drum brakes to rear disc. I need to get some dimensions I guess before I would try a swap.

You could locate a housing from a 1st gen cab & chassis. They are 2 inches wider than stock single wheel, but 8 or so inches narrower than a pick-up bed dually. Might be too wide for what you are thinking, but they have the 5/8 inch studs. I have one in my yard if you want any measurements.

I've looked at Sprinters from the other point of view: drop a Cummins in, camperize it and set up to haul a trailer :: ideal for the serious full-time RV types, .... sorry if it's a hijack

Not quite an 8" difference between the C&C axle and the pick-up axle. I swapped my C&C axle for a pick-up axle a few months ago. The difference is only about 5" overall. 2.5" on either side. IIRC, I've read the C&C axle is 55" between the backing plates and the pick-up axle is 60".
One critical dimension, going back to the original post, is the width between the springs. You can't get too much narrower than what is there already.

Yeah, I dunno. I have only measured the c&c compared to a single. My back plate to back plate measurement was right at a 2 inch difference.
