Pump Timing fuel and lift questions

OK so I dont have ready access to a FSM and am ready to really know what my timings set at, does anybody know a good link that could walk me through it....after I backed out my fuel screw recently, it seemed like it was clattering a little more than before, is there a need for advanced timing without increased fueling? (its bumped about 3/16) Would there be a chance over advanced timing could actually hurt mileage on a pump with stock-ish fueling adjustments? thanx

The stock timing is too retarded for best mileage, 3/16 might be a touch high but you are running 190's.

If you want to set the timing properly you need a dial indicator and the adapter that threads into the timing port.

Is the timing port the one in the front centre of the afc head, partially hidden by the throttle arm?

The timing port is in the center of all the injector lines. It has a plug in it.
