Well, the 93 got a little action this weekend, Doing one of my least favorite things. Moving other people, but it was a good friend of mine I havn't seen in a while and we make a good team when it comes to moving so... It was also a good excuse to hook the 93 to somthing . I find it funny, It took an hour and a half to load the trailer (His wife was helping) and only 20 minutes to unload at the new place (His wife had not arrived yet).
Anywho put about 350 miles on it this weekend and it handled the trailer like a dream.
I must've wired the trailer plug right cause all the lights worked the first time, Kinda hard to screw it up when it just plugs into the factory harness.

Probly gonna be a while til the appearance changes as I'm gonna start focusing on drivetrain and brakes. Since lastime I posted its gotten a new front shaft, carrier bearing, joints in the rear, Next up is brakes all around, gotta set the valves I can hear 1 tickin pretty good, vacuum pump needs resealed, and I gotta work on the drivers front spring perch.
OH yeah and 335$ later its got tags with enough tonnage for anything I'm gonna drag around. Kinda nice knowing you 100% legal

Sweet, Go down to wally world and get some flat black spray paint! LOL
I hear you on focusing on the mechanics, I just picked up a real nice bed for mine. Unfortunely it's gonna sit for a while as my steering box is making popping noises and I need rear brakes bad. Brake pedal feels great but they just don't stop the truck, and the E-brake doesn't hold at all. Front brakes work good tho.

Brandon, Thats the plan, It will have to wait till it warms up a bit though as its supposed to only be in the mid 20's for highs the rest of the week. Yeah I'm gonna have to pull the box off and as Philip says get rid of the PO's finger prints. Gotta clean up a frame repair that looks like a chicken crap all over the frame and bolt the front front perch as the rivets are gettin loose. Gonna rebuild the coupler too and see how ling it lasts.
As far as brakes go the PO did the drivers side but I'm gonna check his work there and do the other side as he gave me all the parts, the ABS valve is gonna go away too. Sure wish I had the money right now for a dually D80 with discs
Dar, It rides like a Cadillac compared to the 90. handles a trailer much better to I think thats cause of the training wheels and additional length. The 90 will however get the same load up to speed MUCH faster. I do know I'm gonna have to make a set of bars for this truck too. I hate that squishy axle wrap feeling.

Its got 3.54s and the last tank wasn't spectacular by any means but respectable at 15.40. I was winter fuel with a healthy shot of Howes and it was a mix of in town and highway(I have a heavy foot too).
After driving the 90 to work today, the 93 didn't want to light off with a weak battery and no grids in the -3 degree cold, I have decide 100% that it will get a NV4500. The 90 shifts SOOOOOOOOOOO much nicer and you don't have to shift.

Nah come on just rebuild that thing it's got a ton of miles on it. I shift my rebuilt getrag with the tip of my pinky finger.
that's not bad mileage for that big thing. I only get 18 out on the highway

I've said it before and I'll say it again I'm not a Getrag basher but I like a 4500 much better, Other than change juice I've never cracked open my NV yet after 173,000 miles of abuse that I have put it through and the PO put an unknown amount of miles on it too. I'm sure you can shift it with your pinky, my old mans is the same way But it take a while for it to slide on into the next gear.
Nah the mileage was kinda expected giving the conditions. I'd bet that it would get 22 on a good long run in the summer If I keep the speed slow. Heck I got 21 with the 90 on the way to SOP this year.
Heres a video of me blowing through 2nd, 3rd and 4th the 5th later down the road

And another 1st-2nd is in the first couple seconds. Do that with a Rag

Well we just put 3 gallons of fresh CI rated oil in and put on some good Baldwin filters on both oil and fuel side. The PO was running a Fram oil filter.
I also picked up a guage pod and a few guages. I still gotta get some senders a thermocouple and lead wire and the install em. This is actually the first 4 guage pod I've ever seen for a 1stgen.

Hey that pod is awesome. I've only seen 1 in person before. Definetly a rare find. I see the 3 pod ones all the time, but the 2 pod ones and 4 pods are harder to find

pulltillbroke,
I've got that same 4 guage pod in my 93 (it was in it when I bought it). All 4 guages are the RW Products guages, like your tach. My tach however does not work, it's not accurate (shows idle at 400 RPM). It seems to always be about 4-500 RPM too slow. I've tried to find RW Products on-line, but haven't been able to. If your tach works correctly, I have a proposition for you. I'll buy you a replacement tach, (your choice) if I can have your RW Products tach. This way I don't have an "odd duck" guage in the cluster. If it were my 92 I wouldn't worry about it, but the 93, that's a little different. It will be no risk to you. You tell me how much you need to replace it and I'll send a cashiers check. When you get it, you can send me the old RW tach. Think about it and let me know. If it's too much of a pain, I understand.
