Pulled in to load lumber, motor wouldn't re-start

OK, my pump was rebuilt three months ago and the truck ran perfectly until today. I pulled into the loading area at Home Depot, loaded some lumber and doors, hopped in, turned the key and the starter spins the motor over but not a peep of combustion is to be heard!
I'm out of town and out of money, so I panicked and pulled what i thought was the FSS out and it didn't respond to 12v, so I clipped off the plunger and screwed it back in. Still no combustion, so I called USAA and two hours later the tow truck had me to the house I'm restoring. I've got no mechanics tools here, but I jumped 12 volts to the REAL FSSm not the cold start solenoid that I ruined, and heard a click. I kept the 12 volts connected and tried the starter - NOTHING!
What next? Figure a way to get the FSS out, and remove the plunger and try again?

Crack the lines at the injectors and see if you have fuel. Any chance there is no fuel in the tank? A hammer and a chisel will get the FSS out in a bind. Was there any indication there was something going wrong before shut down?

Yeah, just be careful not to damage the threads. I would crack the lines and see if anything is squirting out.

I'll crack the lines this evening. The truck was running perfectly when I shut it down in the loading bay. No new fuel and plenty in tank. Filter has about 750 miles on it.

Maybe a bad lift pump as well?

unhook your grids and give it a shot of ether. and see if it stays running, ve should pull fuel even with out the lift pump, if it runs with the ether i'd suspect lift pump, if it just runs off ether i'd pull the fss and gut it and then see if it runs.

oh don't run it very long if it does start with ether because with out the lift pump it doesn't have enough fuel going through it to keep the pump happy, it won't hurt to see if it will run but don't drive it or anything if the lift pumps bad.

Or shoot carb cleaner down the intake.. haha. I did that one day trying to get a ford diesel engine to run. Turns out.. someone T'd the return fuel back into the primary line and it backed up.
