Looks good!! I'm diggin the orange parts! 6X.012 are just slightly smaller than 435's but bigger than 370's. just a little bigger than what you previously planned.

wow! can you believe new era diesel won't get anymore 370's in stock for 3 weeks?! ouch!! i'm gonna try coaltrain once more and if i don't get through, then i have no choice but to order a custom set from bosch. i'd hate to spend the extra cash but, i gotta do what i gotta do. #(*&!$%!!!!
Edit: finally talked to mark at coaltrain and they won't have any for 3 weeks either! he's checking with his local injection shop and gonna ask about 5x.012's for me. he said he used to work there, so he may be able to get a good deal on them.

a guy at an injection shop i've talked to told me that bosch makes up to a 6 hole nozzle but they could be had for $65-$80 each. at that price, i'm better off buying new ones. mark at coaltrain told me exactly what they do. they buy the 5x.012 nozzle from whoever, they use core bodies, clean them up and rebuild them with new springs and shims and sell them as their own 370's.
From DDP's website about their 25hp injectors:
"These injectors will give you about 25 horsepower at the wheels. We say about because there are so many differences between trucks and the adjustments to the pumps. These injectors can be used on a stock truck or one that has been modified. Smoke and EGT's will be very controllable and just a bit more than stock. We at DDP know that these are not the cheapest injectors out there. Spend your hard earned money one time and get the best. These injectors smoke less than 370s, get better mileage and have lower EGT. 370s are a cheap way to make some power but the negative characteristics get old real fast!"
what are the negative characteristics of 370's? they smoke less and have lower egt's... i like how that sounds but doesn't that make you think they're smaller than 370's? is this just them trying to make a sale on their products? anyone used the DDP2's that can prove what they claim?

I've heard many things about 370's. Some say they are dirty, inefficient and made their EGT's uncontrollable, while others say they aren't dirty, run pretty clean, and helped their mileage.
Personally, I would spend the $700 on a set of 6X.016's from New Era, as you will never outgrow them, and the EGT's can be very controllable with even a stock turbo, if the pump is tuned right.
The vast majority of people I have talked to with 370's love them, in fact I have a set for a 2nd gen I was going to take the tips off and put on my 1st Gen bodies, but never got around to it.

yeah 6x.016's are huge!! turns out coaltrain has only 4 370's in stock. mark is gonna do what he can to hunt down 2 more for me . their prices will be increasing $50 soon he told me, but he'll still sell me the 370's for $375. i'm sure they'll be fine for a while with my near stock motor anyway. other than that... got some more work done today. the water pump is on, the a/c is bolted back up. painted the thermostat housing and the heater lines got a good couple coats of hemi orange as i used the last bit in the can. thinking of giving the alternator bracket the orange treatment. who knows what other parts i'll think of to paint
AND.... (this should make everyone happy)
it needs no description or introduction but what the heck. PISTON PUMP!!!

got the head unwrapped last night and started taping it off for painting. but apparently it was already painted gray. if i had known they were gonna paint it, i would've had them coat it in black for me. ah well, i may call and ask if it's high temp. paint and what it's rated for, then see if he could do it in black for me. anyhow, here's what it looks like freshly unpackaged....
machined down .006". valves and seats are ground along with the recession back to manufacturers specs. .060" shims under each valve spring with no worries of coil bind. "polished" exhaust and intake runners and bowls.
and just a little preview...

hahaha it would, but hopefully it won't stay 2-tone for much longer (the bed will look good once it's all black and has polished diamond plate caps along the rails ). i did think about a gray and orange combo on the motor, but i would've only done that if i had yanked the motor entirely. the orange does look good with the gray though!
