You'll definely notice a difference going from 50mm to 60mm.

all i'm saying is you can get toasty with stock injectors and a few pump tweaks. If you leave the pump THE WAY IT IS and just use the power upgrade of the injectors, you'll be fine.

I mean you do have a 4" dp and exhaust +++ intercooler so you're fine.

What intercooler pipes you got? stock or custom ??

custom set-up. built back when my grandpa had the intercooler installed. they're really similar to coolertubz but smaller and black lol. my grandpa can't remember what kind of intercooler it is, but he told me it was aftermarket at the time. i'm wondering if maybe it's a banks from one of the stock i/c trucks.

btw, is this a bad thing? the guys at the machine shop said they broke the heater loose, but the fitting would budge. so they chiseled it to motivate it and then it spun off. is it supposed to be in 2 pieces like this?

what did your injectors pop at, and what did they say was "bad" about them, i ran mine 300,000 and they were still makin some pretty good power, with enough air and tweaks of the pump, i could still get my 3rd gen intercooler to 1600, so i think they were puttin some pretty good fuel through. i put the pods in to see if i couldnt get a few more ponies out, and didnt see much of a difference. advanced the timing all the way to the head and it made a huge difference. what im sayin is those non ic injectors are badass and im with bgilbert on this one, with enough air, they will make 400 horse power.

the first injector popped at 212 bar (3074 psi) and the 2nd at 218 bar (3161 psi). they both had good atomization, a good spray pattern and chatter but the rest didn't even atomize the fuel. popping pressure should be stamped on the injector body. mine said 245 bar (3553 psi) is where they should be. i'm stepping up to 370's from coaltrain diesel. are those new era's or coaltrain's version of new era's? the 370's are 5x.012 as opposed to my stockers that are 4x.012. so it'll probably be a noticeable difference.

benjamin, when 7mm or 9mm is mentioned about a head, it's the injector bore inner diameter. the non i/c motors have 9mm bores and the i/c motors have 7mm bores. the physical size of the head is the same.

By the metal threaded spud. Make sure it is tight, mine always gets loose,so i have to get a long screwdriver to tighten it.

exactly, it was late and i was tired, if you use your existing head you will need adapters for the smaller injectors. the 370's have 7mm tips.

i do have the injector sleeves (adapters) with the gasket kit i've got. i haven't measured them, but i can assume that's what they are for. what i'm trying to figure out now is, now that the head is being machined, what do i do to shim the injectors so they don't protrude too far into the cylinder and come in contact with the piston? the shop manual tells me to use only one sealing washer. or could i use the adapters along with a sealing washer with a 9mm ID to compensate for the injector depth? what are the specs and information on how to go about it?

Remove the bolts. Might have to whack the filter head with a rubber mallet to crack the gasket loose.
