Power steering pump
My dad's 90 Cummins Ram350 power steering pump is leaking fluid. He say's it dosen't leak under the truck (no puddles) but the fluid is going somewhere. I told him to check the engine oil level to see where it was at. He said it appears to be over full.
My question is. Can the power steering fluid leak through the vacuum pump and into the gear cover then into the engine oil?? If not, where might it be going?? Thanks..........

You could pull the vacuum hoses from each of the diaphram pods and see if any steering fluid is in them....that might save you from having to remove everything.
I just had my pump off to change out one of the diaphrams. No biggie to remove it as a unit.
I had to replace the power steering return line ... it was rusted and the nut wouldn't turn without twisting the line.
Good luck

Autostoned carries them Reman'ed for less than a hundred bucks...Mine has been on for over a year with no problems.
You can pull the vacume/pwr steering pump with very little effort.

Do you have to remove the front of the gear cover to gain access to the vacuum pump gear bolts. Or will the gear pass through the back side of the gear cover once you unbolt the vacuum pump?? Thanks..........

nope. just unbolt the assembly and you can pull it all out. you might need a new gasket when you go to put it back together... cummins has them just take your engine number in if you dont want to make one yourself...
