POD's and blue haze/smoke

Hey guy's, I have had my POD's for about 5-6 years, and have been dealing with blue haze from day one, but for the last 1 or 2 years it's been getting worse. I know the quality of diesel is not what it once was, at least for the older Cummins.
Could the excess smoke be a air leak some where in the system? could it be a pump issue? injector problem?
Running around with blue smoke following my truck all the time isn't accepted in these parts any more. Might put the stock injectors back in at this point, hard to sell the truck this way.
Thanks for any help.

air in the lines would cause a haze. but POD's are a pretty dirty injector so they may never burn completely clean. But since it has been getting worse i would first look for an air leak then at the injectors.

What size washers are you running under them? Have you tried advancing the timing further?

I'm in the same boat as you buddy, I switched from Bosch to POD's and still can't get rid of the haze that follows me around like a sick kitten. I haven't been able to find an air leak .. I'm beginning to suspect that the POD's themseves aren't seated properly or something .. in any case it's getting very very old. Lemme know if you find anything

My old first gen on the dyno with PODs. I loved them and the smoke was controllable...

Might be time to have them cleaned and pop pressure reset.

I'll be giving Piers a call soon.
I use to be able to pin my boost gauge at 30psi, these days it's getting hard to get over 20.

If your losing boost you may want to check your intercooler and boots before you start looking for a fuel problem.

I just bought a set of bosch 190's from piers and I suspect the pop pressure to be to low. I get a blue'ish white haze at idle all the time. I ve played with the timing and that does not help. I even did the big line install as BC847 did in the sticky including dropping the tank and modding the fuel pickup. There is no air in my system. I just recieved my air dog 100 and will be installing that soon strainght to the IP. So this will by pass the heater and stock filter and lines to the IP. I don't think this will help the blue haze and I will be speaking with piers soon as well.

If your referring to me you did not read my sig. My Ip was done in August. It may have something wrong with it and I would love to know what it you have any idea's. I suspect there is something but do not want to point a fingure at the shop the rebuilt the IP right of the bat. Its been a problem since I had it done and the LP was replaced.

Thanks

Hey SadDog just a couple of "Quick Fix" ideas here; Try first of all removing drivers side Rear view mirror and if that doesn't solve the issue the remaining mirrors should be removed (where legal check state regs) If still unsatisfactory results occur then check with your local motorcycle shop you should be able to purchase a pair of Oakley riding goggles with blue tinted lenses!!! Hope this helps! On a serious note maybe check pump timing? Hopefully you don't have an oil burning issue but the odor would be an obvious giveaway!

agreed!! engine oil and i believe any oil for the matter burns a blue-ish color. turbo shaft bushings could be going bad allowing oil to enter the compressor side and therefore into the cylinders. check the inside of the compressor outlet or your intercooler tubes on the turbo side and check for oil residue.
