Playin around
Finally got my supply like to the inj pump fixed, made a bit off a difference.
Did some playing in the "unofficial" local HWY 1/4 mile just for the heck of it. Was able to coax about 77mph out of it.
While examining stuff the power screw has been turned in to the lock collar, the cover for the smoke screw has been removed, so somebody has done some tweaking to it already.

That's pretty common, I guess. Mine had all the seals intact, but the smoke screw was all the way in , and the fuel pin had a big notch ground in the deep side to make it deeper. Smoked pretty good and ran pretty hard once the 21cm housing spooled up. I hate to think how toasty it got hauling a GN for the PO. Probably why it's got a motor out of a '92 automatic in it.

I never have run a 1/4 mile with mine. Just none around here in VT and even the local straights are either uphill or downhill. I do know that my 0 - 60 mph times have dropped from 17 seconds (stock) to 8.8 seconds (bombed) last summer. Now with a old smokey pin and 3000 gks, who knows what it might do. I think not bad for an auto.

I thought of pulling the cover and looking to see if the AFC had been messed with or not. I think my smoke screw could stand to be backed out a hair. Blows a puff of black smoke when I first start it, also will smoke quite a bit at lower rpms after you punch it until the turbo comes up.
Maybe that is just the fault of the slow 18.5cm turbo housing though?

Some of it's the housing, but most of it's the smoke screw. Back it off a bit and drive, you want the minimum setting there without hurting your off the line preformance. The black puff on startup is normal, there's no way to get rid of that.
