plastic socket ends on throttle rod
ok went out tonight to try a trick you guys swear by and move the throttle adjusting rod on the ip pump to the inner hole and the return springs to the outer hole...well as luck would have it while trying to adjust the excess slop out i popped one of the plastic sockets off the end of the rod..any ideas on best place to get new one or part number...anything would be much appreciated...thanks

I replaced mine using a Left and Right hand thread Metric Heim Joint so I could reuse the factory threaded coupler.
With this setup there is absolutely ZERO slack in my linkage.
An occasional drop of Turbine Oil on the ball keeps it running smoothly.
I bought these from my local Specialty Fastener Supply but you should also be able to get them from Grainger’s or McMaster-Carr

I think I need to do that! Since I put the 3200 spring in, it shifts way too early, so that should allow the tranny to then shift at the correct rpms. Since with the 3200 spring you now need much less throttle travel for a given power level.

Mine just popped off one day when I was driving in traffic. A rubber band and a short length of small copper wire held it together until I could get home.
Cummins offers replacement units slightly cheaper than does Dodge. The Cummins part number is listed in the FAQ section of this forum. (The FAQ is currently undergoing maintenance or I would provide you the part number here in this post.) And Cummins Power South in Atlanta had the part in stock so I didn't have to wait a week for my local Mopar dealer to get one ordered.

Considering what was just mentioned about the rubber-band and wire, I got to thinking .............
Seeing as how the usual failure of the factory linkage is for the plastic ends to either strip their threads, or the plastic split along the length of the threaded-rod, I came upon a solution that would work plenty long enough to bring one home from a long trip.
If the plastic is split, put it on the rod to it's proper position and clamp it tight with either some zip-ties or a small hose-clamp.
If the threads are just stripped,just push the plastic back on the rod into position.
Then, keep the whole mess under tension, preferably with a stout spring, but zip-ties, shoe-laces, dental-floss, or whatever will suffice in a pinch.

Mine went from stock 1-2-3 at ~ 12mph - 18mph
to 1-2 ~ 15mph 2-3 ~ 23mph
BUT the big problem is floored the trans will NOT shift into 3rd...It hangs at ~ 55 - 58 mph.
I adjusted it tv as far back as I could then had to file the slot longer....
When it still would shift at full throttle I bent the end into a 'Z' so I could shorten it more. Now it shifts at 55 mph give or take...

the price was straight from cummins. i inquired about them while i was picking up my piston pump and other parts. the truck's coming along. the only thing that's gonna keep me waiting is injectors. can't get any from coaltrain or new era for about 3 weeks. i'm about to post an update.

Yea same thing happened to me.
You gotta look at the threads REALLY close to tell which end is LH, turn it the wrong way and it'll break the plastic end right off
