Pic Request: Under bed transmission cooler
Just wondering what they looked like. I was crawling around on the ground under my truck today greasing the zerks. I'm pretty sure I do not have one.

Here you go, it is on the driver’s side between the back of the cab and the fuel fill pipe.
I have a leak in mine so I am going to have to find a replacement,
Most of the transmission coolers that I have found only have 3/8” inlet and outlets but I have found some here that look like they might be able to fit the existing housing with some modifications.

I have a Rapid Cool heavy duty engine oil cooler that is rated for 450 HP and I was thinking about adapting it to fit the housing but I need to find out how many BTU it is rated for, it has ˝” NPT Inlet and Outlet fittings,

I also have an Allison oil cooler off a hydraulic unit that I could use but it is a but large.
If you have the room, they have some good units with a fan that you could mount under your bed.

I am thinking of getting one of these coolers:
http://www.bmracing.com/PRODUCTS/Hi-...2-diameter-fan
Summit has it for about $200, and its complete with the thermostat. Most of the fan/cooler combos in this price range don't include the thermostat.

BC847 did an install of a fan cooler. Check the sticky it is in there I believe. Jim,was your cooler a dealer option or did you install it. I like the looks of the coolers you posted very heavy duty. I wonder if a fan were added if that would help cool more or would their size be sufficient.

I saw one mounted on a Hino cab over that looked great. It was mounted on the drivers side in the front wheel well. The whole package was about 18" X 18" with 3/8 lines, about an 8" fan and was well protected. I have not tried to find out more about it but it would work great as an under be mount.

It came on the truck as an option, there is a fan above the cooler and it is controlled by a thermostatic switch but when I was going through Baker, Ca and it was 128* outside and it was not on I decided to control it with a switch.
It sounds like a vacuum cleaner when it runs.

Here's a few pics of my setup. I am using A B&M unit that has 1/2 ports.. I am having issues with the temperature though, fan is supposed to kick on at 175*.. And the guage has read 200 and hasn;t engaged.. So, I don't know, think the guage is crazy, or I might put the guage before it goes to the heat exchanger..
And the heater hose was just temporary. I have replaced it with good hose now..

Was looking at a huge cooler in the JY a couple months ago that was roughly twice the size of our under-bed units, with 3/4" fittings. Unfortunately, like you mentioned, I wanted to check the rating and couldn't find a plate on it anywhere...

What is the cylindrical part next to the transmission? Is it just a chamber for the temp sender?
