Painted My Grille Inserts and Headlight Ring
It was a pretty day today so I decided to do something productive outside. I removed the grille from the old girl cause it was looking a little worn. I decided to paint the four grille inserts and both of the headlight trim rings in a flat black scheme to go with the black wheels and copper paint. Here are the results.

Makes a huge difference that the pictures don't fully convey. Except for the chrome grille that's shot, the front end looks much cleaner. Now I just gotta find a chrome surround in a junkyard that I can afford.

I did this to the last 91 we had and the 93 current. WOW what a difference it makes. I used semigloss on the inserts and on the rings.
Get some aluminum wheel polish (liquid), and get an old rag and go to town on your grille and you won't believe the difference. Yes i said alum. wheel polish, makes a big difference.

After (but still before i put on a mint chrome smoothie bumper)-

I know this is out of context, but is that a short bed Brandon? Maybe it's the angle the picture was taken at. I didn't think D250's were made with a 6' bed. ???

Nope its a longbed. Member on here owns it now, He can probably post a picture of it with the chrome smoothie bumper on front. They look so much better than the bumpers with the big ugly pads.

Thanks for the idea guys! I just did mine, I had the grille on a bench anyway so it was very easy.
One piece of advice, if the screws to remove inserst are stubborn and don't want to loosen. Just take a plumbers torch and set it as low as it will go, and quickly heat the screw heads.
They break free like we the people with a touch of heat. Just a little, don't catch it on fire!

Mr. Grille inserts, and color matched headlight bezels. I have painted my missing "D" in since this picture was taken. Have been kicking around the idea of painting the plastic on the bumper red, but I stand on it when I'm working on the truck.

if you use the dupli-color vinyl dye it shouldn't come off easily. Given you haven't polished/shined the plastic for at least 30 days and clean it well before. Do not use sand paper as it isn't a paint and will show.
