did u find the issue I could sure use ure input I'm just starting wit the problem ure haveing on my 1991 w250 manufacturer date 12/90

Welcome to the forum. The post you just answered is 6 years old. You should start a new one.
Overcharging is caused by the alternator field being over driven by:
1. Short to ground in the wire to the VR, or on some first gens, the ECM.
2. Bad VR or ECM
3. Something depressing the voltage on the sense wire (sample battery voltage) to the VR or ECM.
That's about all that can do it that I know of.
