So I'm going to finally tear out that nasty carpet. I'm thinking about the molded vinyl that website sells for $130 or so, vs heading to the hardware store for that "Blueskin," which is much cheaper.

Any opinions ?

Any photos of the Blueskin installed ? How many layers of this would you use to deaden the sound and provide a thick, tough surface ?

I used 2 layers of blueskin then the molded vinyl. The vinyl I used was plenty tough. Not sure how thick it was but it was heavy. It was a chore to pick it up off the floor and throw in the truck, It took about 4 hours in cold weather to get it to half way lay down. Threw 2 big space heaters up to the doors and warmed it up and that helped alot. I was in no hurry so over 2 or 3 days I got all the wrinkles out. It now looks good. Good luck

So has anyone here just put down a bunch of layers of Blueskin or other vinyl from rolls, and just left it at that, without putting down the pre-cut molded vinyl from that website on top ?

I'm on a real tight budget right now, and that molded vinyl is almost $150 including delivery way out west.

Maybe I should wait until I have more money, but OTOH that carpet has gotta go...
