What do you guys think of this truck? it is a 91 non I/C with an auto. is it a 727? The truck runs great, the fender is rusted pretty bad, it has a home made patch on it. The radio does not work, a little rust above the windshield, 102,000 miles. new lift pump. the truck was used as a plow truck for the last year, and it just sat in a parking lot until there was snow. it is a w250 with a dually conversion kit and a flat bed. The main thing im concerned with is, is i had the t-case in neutral, and when i put the truck in any gear, i would go to put it back in park, and it would make a ratcheting sound like i was putting it in park while i was still going, but i was completely stopped. is this because the t-case was in neutral, or is something screwed with the tranny? I would plan on lifting the truck 6". I can get the truck for 2500. What do you think?

They rust from the inside out up there. Those few bubbles above the windshield will take a lot of money or work to fix. When you start poking you'll find you have a big hole under each bubble.

Unless you shut the engine off and wait for it to come to a complete stop there is no way to stop the transmission from turning with the transfer case in nuetral . Trying to put it in park after being in any gear is the same as when rolling .Your going to break something and it certainly will be a parts truck then.
Nice flat bed though!

Ok, well i think im going to get it. other than the roof rust, its in decent shape. The other dodge i owned had windshield rust worse than that, and it never really bothered me. I plan on converting it back to a single wheel, and trading the flat bed for a regular bed. I would assume all i have to do to convert it back is just take off the dually wheels and spacer, and put on regular wheels.
Correct?

Ya, its the stock axle. which tranny does it have? i thought it was a 727, but he said it has overdrive? Also, what kind of power can i add to this? Its just going to be a DD truck. Would it be ok to turn the pump up, starwheel, rotate fuel pin, and full power screw. Also, a 3200 spring, and BHAF and exhaust. obviously with gauges, if i dont drive it too hard, could the auto hold up?

If it's a non intercooled it should have the 727. If it has the 518 there will be an OD butto on the dash to the right of the steering column.
You will be pushing the limits on the trans if you crank the pump up a bunch.

Ok, but could i get away with say the starwheel 1 turn up from bottomed out, 2 turns on the smoke screw, rotated fuel pin and a turn on the full power screw. I would also add a 3200 spring and BHAF and 4" exhaust. Also, what would a 91 w250 with a 727 have for gears? did they only come with 3.07s?

Best bet on gears is to crawl under and look for a tag on the diff. cover ,fastened on with the cover bolts. If it's still there it will have some ratio numbers on it.You may need a wire brush to clean the tag.

i cant see the pics, but from the way dave speaks, its bad. my trucks has absloutley 0 rust on it, it has been a west texas desert truck it's whole life, and it still needs new weather stripping around the windshield, but if the rust on the cab is bad enough you might need a whole new cab. just be careful, and post more pics!!
