Your $180 headgasket can be had for much less. ~ http://www.puredieselpower.com/catal...29_58_208.html

There's standard, .010" over and .020" over available. I personally run a .010" over with greater than 50psig of boost and W/M with no issues. From what I gather, there's no real need in a .020" over gasket if you're not running over 75psig or so boost. And realistically, if you need to decompress the engine so as to allow BIG wide-open throttle boost numbers, cut the pistons.

Think long and hard about cutting the C/R. There's a loss in bottom-end torque with reduced C/Rs.

There's not much to be gained by simply nailing on a trick intake-log IMO. The greatest advantage is that cutting the old one off allows full access to the head's intake runners. You really need a LOT of airflow to fully recognize the benefits (cost effectiveness).

And on the trans thing, I'm told heavy boosted launches at the track are what's killing my stock/OEM intermediate shaft. I'm also led to believe that heavy towing with big power does it too (get a bigger truck).

i have too many hobbys ................own lots of half good junk and nothing great

its the 400hp tow monster that can get 17mpg empty,13 towing
thats the challenge
It's not as bad as you think....a set of 6x18 injectors, Rocken Tech 14mm head, and AirDog II will set you back about $1,500...and you'll have enough fuel for 600 w/o nitrous. I've heard good and bad about the Rocken Tech's as far as reliability goes, but right now they are the only game in town.

Part of the reason I love diesels is that you can still go nuts on em and get good fuel economy. Mine gets 24-27mpg freeway, depending on how I drive it.

Take a look at a disassembled 12v head and you will be able to see that #1 and #6 don't really have it that bad. The 24 valves are really choked down from what I understand. I haven't tore that far into one yet.

my truck gets 11mpg-15pmg EMPTY NOT DRIVING IT HARD

i thought head porting would help.Ive scraped the intake log idea..i got a reputible place that can do extensive intake work without removing the plenum.I build a imitation banks twin ram and bolt it to the stock plenum

i have the BD nozzles and were pop pressure set at 275 bar 1 year ago
410 gears and 35" tires .dually star wheel as far out as it can go he 351 hits 38psi and the fuel screw approx...75%
i think they saged out or something.................the milage is BS

so with SDX 5x14/16/18 am i going to be over fueling too much?TOWING????
and can i drive by pyro till the twins get on? spray it with water till then?

i dont want to buy another set of injectors for long time

WHATS THE 400HP TOWING COMBO AND 17MPG????

these injectors are coming out asa funds allow....this truck is breaking me lately

I drove around for a little bit with 6x16s, a stock turbo and maxed pump. The truck smoked when romping on it at 80+ mph. You could not have paid me to try to tow with the truck then. I would have to lift a couple times during wot runs of 0-70 because I was pegging my pyro. You could drive it easy and be alright, but you really had to try. I could have turned the pump down some, but it was just motivation to build my twins sooner. Now I have no issue with EGTs.

Does .010" over mean the head gasket is .010" thicker?

Yes. I run a .020" over, but my head had .009" taken off to clean it up when I had it planed and oringed, etc.

Its possible to do some runner work w/o removing the intake. I ended up notching underneath the intake sealing area so I could widen the runners.

Was also able to remove that nasty bump on #1 cylinder.

I think the next go around im gonna remove the intake and go with a thinner HG

tell me how you notched underneath the intake ?

iam worried about spray pattern and getting a haze with the .010 gasket..

Ahineman what was your milage like?

my he351 moves alot more air then the stocker turbo...and it will make me do the twins

Thinner washers on the injector base could solve that if it became an issue.

Correct me if I am wrong but aren't they suppose to be 245 bar?

I think the higher the bar, the more work, less fuel you will get, hence your bad MPG's.

I've got 145* spray pattern injectors (stock for IC), thin copper washers, with the .020" over gasket and .009" off my head, and the pump to the head...
My truck doesn't haze that bad at all. Some, but I've seen a lot worse.
Cell video of haze. I just installed the vented valve covers, so don't make fun that they don't have hoses on them yet.

As far as mileage, I think I could have got as bad or good as I wanted...depending how I used my right foot.
