the ole girl done it
Got me 1400 miles from home to Belfield, ND. Only real hiccup it had was the cruise cutting out in the hot weather. That and I should have left the used tires on back and put the new ones up front. The tire shop didn't check the balance on them either, the place that put them on spun their balancer by hand. Then they put 70 pounds in one side and 75 in the other when I told them 60 front and 45 rear. Those two tires did what I needed them to, they will have to be replaced before it goes far again, at lower speeds I can feel the truck rocking side to side down the road.

i did 1400 miles a month ago too... it wouldnt be bad at all if the truck was quieter and had a place to lay you head.
oh yeah, it was me, my old lady and a 125 lb rottweiler in a single cab 5 speed truck.

Next trip is going to be about 2200 miles or so home, by way of some friend's places down in Nebraska. I have the cap off the Chevy I wrecked over the winter on it but it's a bit narrow in back, and doesn't cover the stake pockets. The bed filled with water in Minnesota so I had to get a hotel room that night. I knew it was a possibility so I put my stuff up on the gooseneck hitch plate and on the chains I carry and some other stuff so it wasn't all on the bed floor.
I am almost afraid of what kind of fuel mileage I could get with an overdrive. I know it's not the most accurate filling at different pumps and with large and small nozzles, but I was showing very high teens and one tank 21 mpg.
It would definitely be quieter if I had AC. Maybe I can get something worked up over the winter.
