old freind going fast
Well I think that after all the bragging about how good the a518 transmission is, mine is finally going kapoot. It started slipping real bad friday morning on the way home from work, so I went down to the parts store to get a new filter and oil. pulled the pan and it was about an eighth inch deep of real fine matal shavings. which had also plugged the filter. So, after changing everything and adjusting the tv cable so it didnt de-fuel between shifts, we took it out for a test drive. this thing has'nt shifted this good in a very long time.anyhow, we took it and the two fourwheelers to the coast surf fishing saturday,{about 200 miles round trip}and she is still going good. But I am going to start getting the parts together to rebuild it.By my calculations with the 35 inch tires. she has about 335,000 miles of abuse on her. not to bad.
by the way, this will be my first look into an auto transmission.

I really like the htbg, but I'm thinking that the trans. does'nt like it. I am going to put on the htb62 when I get the trans. done. need a little more air.
