Red face Fuel in Oil!!

FUEL IN OIL!!!!!! have a 93 dodge with the 5.9 with getrag, was great till the IP went and had it rebuilt by THD and ever since it has been getting fuel in the oil slower at first and more all the time..We turned up the pump from 90cc to 280 so it is definitely getting more fuel and it starts right up with no smoke and idles fine although before it was at about 800-900 rpm now it seems to have slowed down a bit..could it be that the injectors were old and with the added pressure from the IP and the amount of fuel the fuel is going right by to the crankcase? It has 352000 miles Lol..Saw a video where you can check to see if the injectors are bad or cracked by running without valve covers and looking for smoke..anyone have experience with this issue?

ANY help would be great as it got to the point I can't drive it... due to too much fuel in the oil..Let me know

Could be the front seal on the VE pump.
It can give out, especially if you run a high pressure lift pump.
When it gives out it it allows fuel to dump into the front case and down into the oil pan.

I have been there, and done that.

Yeah, I remember you having that problem. Bad lift pump can tinkle into the crankcase too

Have you checked your fuel pressure going into the Injection Pump? A good place to check it is at the bleeder port on the fuel filter. Anything over 15 psi can push the front seal out of the VE and dump fuel into the crankcase. I replaced my lift pump with one I got off Amazon and the pressure was running over 35 psi and wrecked the seal. I was on the freeway and a guy on a motorcycle pulled up to my window to show me the oil/fuel he was being sprayed with from my truck. I had the truck towed home and looked into things. I only had a couple thousand miles on a rebuilt VE.

I would listen to these guys if I were you. It sounds logical and is a relatively easy thing to fix right now. It sounds like an over pressured pump pushing out the seal. You can know for sure in a relatively short time... Mark

I would test the fuel pressure that this HVLP pump is putting out. Where Edwin mentioned is a good spot to get a reading.

Yes a brand new sealed pump could push out that front seal and start leaking fuel QUICKLY.

Front seal. Could be the lift pump. Just because it says low pressure doesn't mean it is. Could be a bad front seal or bad installation. In my opinion, the only way to install the front seal is with a snap ring. Requires a little machining, but guarantees the seal will never come out.

I like that snap ring idea. Problem solved.
Nice call there cougar.
Next time I get a VE pump in my hands that needs a rebuild. I will look into that.

Yes. The front seal pushed out even with the edge of the hole it was pressed in. I used a new seal from a Bosch seal kit and I put locktite on it to help. I bought a pump from DieselTuff to replace the cheap pump I got from Amazon.
