i have the thermostat for the oil cooler in hand because as you said over cooling oil is not good. and i know that an oil cooler in antifreeze is very good at transfering heat. just hate to mix the two. i know there are thousands of cummins big and small with no issues with this style of cooler . just me.

A CHERRY PICKER hmmmmm that probably would have help when i pulled the head on my lifted 90' diesel, but instead i had to use nothing.... which got me a SORE back and a broken fan shroud i guess i was thinking the head only weighted maybe 80lbs not 150lbs

I agree that the oil would need the warming as well as cooling provision, same reason for the transmission heat exchanger on the automatic transmission trucks. Not all Cummins engines have the oil cooler filter mount like the Dodge trucks do though. Cummins remote mount oil filter head replaces the oil cooler plate, p/n 3284170. I believe it was over $200.00
