odometer question
I purchased a 92' 1-ton 2wd about a month ago. Was very scepticalabout the odometer reading when I was looking @ it. It said 89611mi. on the truck. The speedometer works, but not the odometer or trip. I know that the 1st gen trucks have issues with gears being broke in them, had the same problem with the 90' model I got. The guy swore up & down that the milege was correct. The question that I have, it there anyway I can look up the milege thru the ECM, before I go to the license bureau or do a car fax report on it?

Yes, I think the ECM does record the mileage. Seems I was looking through the factory ECM diagnostic book and there was something about it. ...but, I think you would need the type of code reader that is available at the dealership.

No, only in the 98.5 and up with a digital odometer. The odometer itself is entirely mechanical.
