nv4500 swap (w350)

Hi guys, I finally started my swap this afternoon. I started removing the easy stuff. I also opened my Adavance Adapters box. I should have done this awhile back. It says that I need to cut almost a 1/2" off of the carrier bearing on my nv4500 tranny. Can someone out there who has done this chime in and confirm this? I also checked the splines on my output shaft to make sure they were back far enough on the shaft. They seem ok. It was 4" from tip to the edge of spline which by AA installation instructions is ok. Thanks for any info guys! Robert

If you mean the bearing retainer on the front of the trans then the answer is yes.

Yes that is what I meant. I took it off and took it to a machine shop and had them do it down to .0012" out. I got everything out of my truck today. I pulled the clutch and p-plate off and then took the pilot bushing out. I had to quit early to help my dad. I have one more question. I took the reverse switch out of the getrag to put it into the nv4500. The one in the nv4500 takes a newer style male connector. I am pretty sure I can just swap the switches cant I? Thanks for all the info guys its greatly appreciated! Robert

I've always used the newer connector but if the switches look the same except for the conector it should work.

I asked the tech guy at AA and he said the switches are not compatable. He gave me the pig tail part number. So I will have to buy that and splice it into the harness. Thanks

freight train: would you mind sharing that part number? I'm gonna need one too I think, since I'm going from A518 to NV4500 on a '92 W350. Thanks!
