not to sound dumb...

But what exactly is a 618 transmission? Looking at ATS website, thinking I may try to put OD in before, ok sometime, next year.

a618 is a 47rh if I'm not mistaken 94-95 2nd gens, a518 was the 46rh in the 91.5-93 1st gens.

47RE

A renamed second-generation A618. A heavy-duty A727 with overdrive and electronic control.

48RE

The 48RE is an electronically-governed, four-speed heavy-duty overdrive automatic transmission, stronger than its predecessor, the 47-series.

46RH, but much beefed up is also used in 91.5 - 93 CTD.

Main sun gear carrier, for instance, is steel. TQ is different, etc.

a618 is identical to an a518 with the difference being the a618 has overdrive AND lockup

OK, sounds simple.

Want to go to an OD but wow, I can hardly get $300 saved up at once, let alone $3000, plus the core.
