Cummins made a product improvement by changing from the 9mm to 7mm. Take advantage of that. They did it for a reason. To handle more heat.
Plus all of the performance injectors are 7 mm.....then you can take advantage of that plus have all the washer thickness options.

School me on the washer thickness deal, will ya? I installed a set of 40 HP injectors from BD diesel performance and I just followed their instructions and installed the new washers that resembled the stock thicknesses. The kit did come with 2 other sizes...did I mess up? Sorry to hi-jack this wonderful tread. Carmyne

You can use the 9mm to 7mm injector adaptors for any 7mm injector. Not just the POD's. That is early head (that has the big 9mm bores), later injector (7mm tip) be it POD, 91.5-93 stock injector, EDM with 7mm tip, 370's etc with use of said adaptor.

Can't go the other way. Later head (smaller 7mm bores) big 9mm injector= NO.

Bigrag, varying injector washer thickness can reduce smoke from the POD's at idle, get the tip closer to the piston bowl. I'm sure more, someone else will have to chime in, its late.

Carmyne, AFAIK the POD's are the only injectors that need thinner washers to run cleaner. As long as you're not putting out a constant haze at idle you can't be too far off.
