no smoke
The snow is starting to melt so I'm just starting some of the mods on my truck. I swiss cheesed my air box put on my 16 turbo houseing and turned the full power screw in. I took a test drive after each thing I did, the airbox seemed to make an improvment but I can't tell much has happened with the rest of it and I'm seeing no smoke. I don't have a boost gauge
but egt's seem ok. can some one tell me if I did something wrong or just not done enough yet?

I would bet you turned the wrong screw, not being a butt here but more fuel means smoke, i dont know of a way you can turn it without results,

Have you adjusted the fuel pin and the star wheel yet? Those make the biggest contribution to smoke.
If you really want smoke, take the spring out from under the fuel pin.

no I have not addjusted the fuel pin or star wheel yet. the way I read the addjustments for the VE pump from this site and corect me if I got it wrong was that the full power adjustment was all that was needed unless my AFC or Diapraghm is way out of its proper setting. My pump was rebuilt about 20k ago so I thought I would not have to those. and no I dont want smoke but thought that would come on with the mods. its the power I'm looking for to pull my 5er better.

You ought to make sure the fuel pin is oriented so that the deep side faces forward. You're leaving a lot of free power on the table if you don't. Most trucks are not set this way from the factory. The star wheel is a response adjustment, if you feel the truck is sluggish to respond but has good power otherwise, turn the star wheel clockwise until you're happy. It's not real sensitve so do at least a turn at a time.
