no power steering

no power steering

ive blown the power steering pump out of my truck for the third time in a year whats going on with it? could it be a bad steering box or what?

just driving along one day and when i turn the corner its gone. then its on and off again for a day or two then gone completely

Can't think of what would be causing it to do this. Have you replaced the steering box? Maybe there is a lot of restriction in the system and the pump is getting so hot it's cooking out the internal seals? Only thing I can think of.

Maybe add a filter next time in case you have a bunch of grit in your system

Could be...but after 3 pump changes you'd think it would have flushed the system fairly well. Can't hurt to try though.

Maybe a seal is coming apart in the gearbox and its pieces are jamming up the flow control valve in the pump.
