No power steering

No power steering
I just converted to hydroboost and now I have no power steering. I used a 93' GM master and booster, but kept my stock ps pump for now. I have the pressure line from the pump going to the 10 o' clock position on the booster. Then the 2 o'clock position line going to the pressure side of the box. I put in a tee between the return line from the box and the booster and then to the return port on the pump. I'm wondering if I need a check valve at the tees so that its not putting back pressure anywhere? Thanks.

Have you been sure to get all the air out of the lines? I had to crank my steering wheel side to side several times before the power steering even kicked in, then I had to pour in about another quart of fluid and keep going. The steering will not be nearly as easy to turn as it was before, as the hydro unit uses most of the pressure. I don't think a check valve is necessary, as there is no pressure coming off either return - the fluid just drains back into the pump.
I would say that your PS pump is too weak to take care of both units. I went with a 24 valve PS pump with my swap, and have had no issues with it yet. The 24v pump also has dual returns, eliminating the need for a tee in the line.

Ok so I'm pretty sure I need a better pump for the output demand. I was able to set the truck on the ground and move it around the yard. The steering is still stiff but now when I apply the brakes, the pedal goes down a little and then is forced back up. Why is something pushing my pedal back up? It almost seems like the power steering lines aren't hooked up right. But I know they're good. I'm going to rebuild a pump I have from an '88 Chevy 1 ton. That should bolt up right? Maybe that will solve at least one of my problems. Thanks again.

I don't know about that '88 Chevy pump. Take a dial caliper and measure the gear. If I were you, I'd just find a used 24v pump somewhere.
What size return line are you using? It needs to be at LEAST 3/8" ID.
