Nice 3" wye for intake piping?
Was looking to build a dual inlet intake for my upcomming 12v project simular to banks but coming over the valve covers rather from an intercooler. Any opinions on this, would a wye cut down the flow due to restriction or would the other pipe help due to more area to flow into? This is race only application and will be using water and pos. nitrous if needed for the intercooler. If i go this route with the intake has any one seen a nice flowing wye for sale somewhere?

In one of the Diesel Power mags I have there was a setup like this on a custom race truck, it looked pretty cool. I think it would help even out the air flow to the cylinders.

Thats kind of what im thinking, but now questioning if the resistace of the wye would hinder more than help? Not really sure, but ya i will def. try it if i can find a nice pre fabbed wye, ive experimented and not happy with the results, i think coming right out of the tubo it had better flow well or im spinning my wheels in the wrong direction. Thoughts?

You would think it would flow better, being more pipe area after the Y. Most turbo outlets that I have seen are 2.5 inch. (for stock or close sized applications) If you made a 2.5, or even 3" Y pipe off the turbo, or a couple inches off the turbo...
I thought about doing something like this myself, but mines a street truck, and im lazy.
When you look at the twin ram setup, its not really bigger than the stock setup, but theres 2 pipes... Gotta be worth something, they went to all the effort to cast them up, and make an intake plate for them...
I cant see a Y being a restriction.
What I do see it doing is feeding all of the cylinders more evenly. And also keeping the EGTs down because of less restriction in the airway.
Also, instead of using a 90* Y, you could use 45*s to keep the restriction down... (make your own, its easy)

Im in the same boat. My dad has a 98 with the twin ram and the main reason for the "twin" is banks clames that the 6th cylinder is basically sufficating. Ive been looking into getting fuel lines from a intercooled 1st generation. good luck

i built one for mine thinking along the same lines of evening airflow.
i'll try to post a pic if i can figure it out. It did raise my dyno numbers 3 hp.
doesn't sound like much, but when you start spraying water and nitrous in the engine it multiplys the effect. I would like to get a pyrometer reading from each cylinder to see if it cools them better then the stock setup.
