i went and looked at the truck today.. lets just say it has its fair share of rust. i don't think it is drivable. it's in pretty tuff shape. he said 1400 without the plow. im looking at for parts now. im going to offer 1200 see if he bites.

$1400 is still good for a 5 speed 4x4 truck that runs/drives.
Can you say. part out?
Guys would die to have a COMPLETE auto to 5 speed conversion with the t-case and all. lol

My frame was bad. It was not rusted through but pitted pretty bad. The only rusted through part was on the bottom web off the frame where the fuel tank sits. The crap had sat on it and rusted that area. I cut off the rear cab mounts, bed mounts, rear spring hangers, overload spring bumpers. I plated the frame from basically under the seat to the rear of the truck. I also plated the bottom web of the frame from seat to rear.I redrilled the holes out and bolted the new hangers on and reused all the cab and bed mounts. Never mind the dates on the pics, it was last summer not 2000.

wow! you really wanted that extended-cab five speed, didnt you?
did moving your springs outboard because of the plating cause any mounting problems with the spring perches on the axle?

I left the springs on the axle. When I put the spring eye bolts back in there were no issues. The plate was 3/16ths each so less then half inch total. The only reason why I redid the truck is because I used to work with the 1st owner. I was buggin him back in 2000 to buy it. He was real easy on it, took very good care of it and it was bone stock. It never plowed or towed anything. I told him I would not part it out and planned to fix it. It ran very good but was real rusty. I already had the front clip and donor cab.

i just got an email from the owner of the truck. he went good for $1200. that is a good deal it even has the factory tach! now i just need to find a car hauler. looks my truck will get the getrag! can we say power to the ground.

Congrats, I new you would find a donor. That is a great deal. You can get power to the ground with a rag but it is slow til you get into 3rd gear. Mine pulls real nice in 3rd 4th and 5th. Starting from a dead stop sucks. Make sure you get in touch with him asap and confirm the deal. Pay for it asap also. You don't want him backing out of it.

My opinion you did rather ok. You have a fixer upper or a parts donor either way your ok on the deal. You now may want to built a crew cab with this donor. If the cotton pickin economy will pick up so my "wants" can start to equalize with my "needs" I'd try a crewcab. Anyways bradshaw106 IMO you did good. Good luck with it.
