new torque converter

well, I managed to put in the firestone airbags last month, bought an 18' dovetail last week, and have just purchased a BD lowstall torque converter. I hope to do the install in the next couple of weeks.

just wondering what snags I should watch for...

naturally I will be replacing the front seal on the transmission.

any insights would naturally be appreciated.

tks,
rjm

If it was me I would be putting in a 2nd Gen Flexplate- see sticky for the numbers, get it from cummins- much cheaper. Also if you don't have one yet a trans temp guage.

Good luck,
Michael

Depending on the miles on your truck I would put a rear main seal in also.

I read the sticky for converting to a second gen auto, but didnt see any part #'s. are you sure the 2nd gen flex plate will work with 1st gen parts? do you have any pictures to demonstrate the difference?

tks,
rjm

[QUOTE][How much did that BD run you?/QUOTE]

converter 1060210X 795.00
core charge 300.00
PST 65.70
GST 76.65

TOTAL 1237.35

they charged both taxes on the core charge so I should get that back as well.

the provincial sales tax is 6%, the goods and services tax is 7%, so I should get back $339.00.

total cost $898.35. CDN

that doesnt include the cost of driving about 2 hours each way to the BD shop, then again I can lump that in with trips I make for other stuff.

tks,
rjm
