A New Take on an easy 3" intake/crossover tube for Non I/C Trucks.

And an update I finally got around to ditching the stock crossover pipe! I ordered a 3" id 90 Silicone hose and a 3"-2.5" reducing 90 with t bolt clamps from Ebay and used 3" exhaust pipe. The base place is 1/4" steel that were mocked up and templated the holes along with using a 3" holesaw from home depot to get the hole. Thanks a lot to Mike aka loco1 for the help and use of his shop!! Then a section of the 3" exhaust pipe was welded into the base plate and then its just bolt and go! Due to the fact that I was dealing with two 90 deg bends I didn't need to mess with angling anything fwd at all. I just rotated the pipe towards the turbo to fit! no bending of metal pipe necessary. right now there's a stock 54 mm h1c inducer on there but I am going to upgrade to the htt stage III for chatter elimination. click the links for pics

Very nice. Did you have trouble getting the silicon hose around the lip on the turbo? I fought mine for quite a while before soap and a heat gun finally got it over.

yea good question, mike held onto the snail while I rounded it on. 2.5 inches is a good tight fit :-) just a lil slippery juice on the inside and it popped right on.
I REALLY need a cold side with a map width enhancement and I'm planning on staying close to stock fueling even so I want to go with a stock hx-35 but they seem hard to find nowadays.

What does the larger diameter tube do for EGT, as compared to the stock tube ??

If anything, it'll lower the EGT due simply to flowing a bit more air. Anybodies mileage may vary.

Well I switched from the 50mm inducer as well to the 54 so previously I was getting 26 max boost, now 28+. I haven't had the chance to go up any local grades to check out EGT's but with close to stock fueling on this rig with a 4" exhaust and 16cm housing and bhaf intake with 4" pipe I haven't been having any EGT issues! I don't know how EGT's will react with more fuel to it yet, I'm still dealing with low end compressor surge in 5th gear or in any gear while loaded up in low RPM. It's much better than before when I had the 54/stock crossover. I had switched back to the 50mm wheel and housing to overcome that. But the flow is real nice @ high end for sure. Better turbo response indeed and a very loud whine.

I was going to do mine very similar to this but was unsure of hood clearance. Looks like it will work well.

If I were you, I'd use a smaller bend in the 3" pipe to mate to the compressor outlet with a straight coupler to eliminate the extra 90 degree bend.

nah I'm just going to leave it as is, this isn't a drag truck.
All intercooled trucks have at least four 90 degree bends even @ the intercooler inlet/outlet, one @ the turbo + @ the inlet horn!
I wanted to increase volume to allow for a larger compressor and get rid of the 2" bottleneck in the stock crossover. I think this does the trick.
