Which clutch? It better not be the 12" Con-O or I'll have to slap you silly.

Hey smokem they are not that hard to put in. I put a 3600 double disc in mine with the getrag. Just leave your transfer case and trans together and undo the 4 bolts on the bellhousing. just my 2 cents i wont slap you silly lol

I think unless you are going to go nuts with the power you should get a fresh Sachs. I think it's a better clutch than the 13" Con-O. The only thing the big Con-O has over the Sachs is that it handles 3rd gear launches a little better. If you want to be sure you have enough clutch for pretty much anything, get the Con-OFE. The OFE will be a little grabby until you get the big injectors in, though.

What I really want to emphasize here is that buying ANY 12" clutch is a mistake. The center on them is not strong enough.

I gotta do mine soon too.Probably goin w/ the con ofe ,who's got the best price? I would like to have some beers and greasy fingers too! Th e truck stop at the Delaware Gap on 80 could be our meeting point. They won't mind a couple clutch jobs in the Mc D's lot...right? lol

Pulling? As in sled or trailer? If you are sled pulling, spend the big $$$ and get a dual disk. Nothing worse than wasting $900 on a CON-OFE that won't live up to expectations.

Now the stock 13" Sach's is great! I pulled the sled 3 times in 2 days. Had 160,xxx on it and did a lot of GN trailering before that. Now that I looked at it when I sold the tranny, I thought " THAT thing HELD???!!!"

I'm confused now, which clutch is the best option for the 250-300hp range? No sled pulling just trailer pulling for many many many long miles of hwy.

Exekiel69, the stock Sachs.

SmokemS, I think the con-o is what he is talking about.

Dave, TWorlines luk pro-gold 12" is holding really fine! I road with him in it and he nearly snapped my neck a couple of times!

If your going to the expense of doing the 13inch SBC, go past the O and straight to the OFE.

I paid $900 back in '06, I don't know if the prices have gone up or not, but I put an OFE in my 2000 and would do it again in a second.

If you do sled pulling get at least the lowest dual disk "3250" I think it would be awesome in a 1st gen with no plans to get above 400hp. Better to have too much then not enough. Drive your stocker sround a little longer if $$ is an issue.
