The benchseat has been my only ***** about this truck in 10 years.
You mean like these? I love mine.

i paid $150 for my bench seat that was out of a 01 dodge quad cab at the wrecking yard in pheonix az, the guy started out at $300 then i said they were to dirty for that much cause the were sitting outside then he said ok $200, then he came up and said the seat belts didnt work so i told him $150 and he said ok, and all the seatbelts needed was a power and ground wire and got the seats to look almost as good as knew with a $2.50 can of carpet cleaner

Just picked up a set of buckets and console out of a 1998 ,off ebay for $ 100. Set them in the truck and they are really high. I have about 4" from the top of my head to the headliner. (5'11") Did you guys have to cut any of the base off these seats to lower them, or how did you do that? The only way I can see this is going to work is with a sledge hammer Any thoughts?

Mine are really high, too. I ended up leaving it that way since I found I really like it. It's about 4" higher than my original buckets were. But, I felt like I was sitting in a hole with those.

I put in some 3rd gen seats. Theyre a little tough but they are the base cloth seats. Im gonna swap in the premium cloth with opening console before long. They sit high but that could be fixed. I picked mine up for $200 at a salvage yard and they quoted me about $300 for the premiums.

I used some buckets from a 1985 350 dodge van, they are the same as what would have been in the 1st gens (9.99 apiece from the local pick and pull), then used ramcharger mounts ($10.00 from the pick and pull) and found a 92 center console ($40 on ebay) to replace the edit aftermarket seats that came in the truck when i bought it, the driveside lower cushion was half gone, sets wasen't mounted all the way and the passengerside wouldn't stay up right unless you propped it up.

Do you guys know of any rear bench seats out of other makes and models that would fit in a club cab first gen, that would have plenty of leg room left for those in the back?

There simply isn't enough room in the cab. Some have put a bench seat back there but it was almost unusable.

you guys think there's any concern legally about modifying your vehicle seats/seatbelts like that?
i'd love to swap out the seats in the CTD I'm thinking about buying, but wonder if there's any concern legally if i were to do something like that. I'm not a certified welder but i can draw a bead as well as the next guy do you think that homemade brackets could stand up in court should something happen?

I dont believe so. I have never seen any state inspector check for seatbelts or funtionality of them when I go for inspection. My grandfather is a certified NYS vehical inspector, I'll ask him when I see him tomarrow.
On the same token, unless you acctually take the time to remove the stock seatbelt, its still there, right along with the female end. 1st gen belts arent built into the seat.

Well, coming from a fellow NYS inspector, as far as the state is concerned, all seating positions must have a functional seatbelt, i.e. it must extend/retract properly and make a firm engagement of the buckle portion, other than that as far as inspections go there are no reg`s.....NOW if yer talkin laywers and such....???

I found a set of leather captains chairs out of a custom van at the junk yard for $32 each, removed the sliders from the extra tall base and bolted them to the floor. These seats are large, the jump seats in the back were unusable, so I removed them and used the space for a set of sub woofers. I love these seats, power everything, arm rests on both sides and real cushy, helps take some of the bite out of these 1 ton springs. I found a console out of a late model Suburban that fit perfectly, looks so good most people think this set up is factory.

Thumbs up Fine Job !!

MICIAHFIED,

I made the mistake of showing these pictures to the wife.

Now, she is on me to start cutting out the back of her cab.

Do you still have this truck??

Would you do it again??

Did you do a pictorial write-up??

I ain't out of questions; but, this will do for now.

Thanks.

I know this isn't a first gen but I got these seats of Craigs list for $50 bucks and spent yesterday installing them, I am all pumped up cause the old bench had 430k on it and it was so painful!
