New ps pump. No ps

I replace the power steering pump and I still have no steering. I tried runnin it and turning the wheel and the fluid level dropped so I filled it back up and it did the same thing again. Any ideas?

Turn the wheel stop to stop first without running the engine, when the level stops dropping you can start the motor and do it that way but keep it short. It can take alot of time to purge all the air out.

Also, helps immensely if you have both front wheels off the ground when you are bleeding.

Can seem like it will never get the air out.....

At Idle the pump wont build pressure.

Blast it up to about 1500+ rpm for a moment. That will get it suck fluid. Shut it down. Do NOT turn wheel, Refill pump. Now restart turn wheels & so on.

Your fluid WILL be foamy. Leave cap off to help speed up the defoaming could take a while.

Use that lucas ps fluid with stop leak. Ever since I put that product in I feel the steering tightened up some. Just enough that I feel the difference

I just replaced the steering gearbox on my truck and took the advice another member posted in this thread.

Jack the front of the truck up until the front tires are off the ground and put jack stands under it. Then turn the key to the run position but do not start it. With the ps cap off turn your wheels from left stop to right stop. As you do this you'll here the fluid gurgling in the ps pump. After you hear it gurgle, check the fluid level. You'll probably have to add some. Repeat this process until you hear no more gurgling and your fluid level is where it is supposed to be.

Worked like a charm for me.

This long should this take? I've been trying for about 6 hours going stop to stop with the truck running and the front end of the ground. Still no luck
